The Biggest Cupcake Ever

DeWayne surprised me with this wonderfully gigantic chocolate cupcake! It was almost as big as my head :) Our book says that the gender of the baby is now easily defined. We are hoping that we can have an ultrasound at our next appointment to reveal the sex! It will be a complete surprise. DeWayne comes from a family of 3 boys and I come from a family of 4 girls...So what will the baby be?!?! Happy Birthday tomorrow Ryan!

1st Round of Bloodwork

1 year ago, if I gave blood, I would have to warn the nurse to have apple juice ready for me to drink. I would get real dizzy and almost pass out. I couldnt even be around someone talking about giving blood without getting queasy. I have now learned that it is all in my head and that I can stop being a wuss. I gave 6 viles and felt fine! (Dont get me wrong, I'll avoid needles at all costs). The test results came back fine except I am 1 gram short in iron. Therefore, I am anemic which happens in 20% of pregnancies. They werent too worried about it because it was such a small deficiency. The nurse told me to eat more red meat and green veggies. I guess this explains why everyone has been telling me I need a tan. I guess the pale complexion was a sign. SO.................. BRING ON THE

2nd Trimester!!

I see mixed information on whether or not the 2nd trimester begins at week 13 or 14. We will just go with week 13 so we can celebrate now!!! It has been a LONG first trimester and we are so excited to move on to the next stage where the weight gain and baby movement really happens. I just got over a pretty bad cold but am feeling much better this week. I am in that stage where it looks like I ate a Thanksgiving meal. I am definitely feeling/looking bigger but not to the point you would know that I was pregnant. Maternity clothes are too big but my regular clothes are too small. Dilemma! Oh well, I guess unbuttoning the top button to my pants will have to do :) They say that you feel much better and have more energy in the 2nd trimester. Bring it on! I am sure DeWayne is annoyed with my laziness lately but he is still being the best husband ever. He suprised me Saturday with IHOP in bed...I could get used to that!

I haven't had any new cravings except for macaroni and cheese.

An Unexpected Day

DeWayne and I were so excited to go to our first obgyn appointment. Although we didnt receive the news we were expecting, we are thankful for our miracle...and grieve our loss. Our wonderful doctor told us that we have one healthy baby with a perfect heart rate. We thank God that this little miracle is still with us and is doing so well. Pictures to come shortly.
